Engaging with Salford Care Homes, a Call for Relatives’ Views

Healthwatch Salford are seeking the views of relatives and friends of residents in Salford care homes to tell us their views and comments of the care received and of the home itself.

Relatives and friends are encouraged to contact Healthwatch Salford and leave a review through the form below or by contacting them on the office number:

0300 355 0300.

These views are being gathered as part of a city-wide programme of visits into Care and Residential Homes across Salford that we have been undertaking since August 2017.

Comments and reviews will be anonymised and written into an evaluation report at the end of the programme of visits, due to end in March 2018.

Using their statutory function of ‘Enter and View,’ Healthwatch Salford have been visiting care homes to talk to residents, visitors and staff about their experiences of care and life in the home. They have been basing their conversations on surveys around 8 ‘care home quality indicators’.

The purpose of the visits are:

  • To engage with residents of care homes and understand how dignity is being respected in a care home environment
  • Identify examples of good working practice
  • Observe residents and relatives engaging with the staff and their surroundings and to experience the care home using the 3 primary senses of sight, sound and smell
  • Capture the experience of residents and relatives and any ideas they may have for change

This programme of Evaluating Care Homes supports Healthwatch Salfords overall aim to, ‘encourage and enable local people, including those who are most marginalised or vulnerable, to have more control in their lives and to influence the organisations that affect them’.
