Find out more about our staff and volunteers.

Sam Cook - Chief Officer

Sam started as Chief Officer in June 2022 and has worked in the voluntary sector in Salford for a number of years. Prior to joining as Chief Officer, Sam had been a Healthwatch Salford Board member since 2018.

Sam's role is to lead Healthwatch Salford in delivering it's mission to ensure the public's voice is heard and acted upon, thus demonstrating the patient experience informs the decisions made in the system.  Sam's role is to lead Healthwatch Salford strategically and operationally, on behalf of the Healthwatch Salford Board.

Sam is a proud Salford resident and has been nearly all her life. She lives here with her two children and two gerbils and her family are close by.

In her spare time, Sam is a lover of all things retro/vintage and enjoys going to the theatre, having tread the boards many years ago in local amateur dramatics.

Elyse Peacock - Knowledge & Support Officer

Elyse is our Knowledge and Support Officer and has worked for Healthwatch Salford since April 2019. In her role Elyse is responsible for the feedback and signposting enquiries we receive, along with leading on the marketing and communications for Healthwatch Salford. Elyse has a keen interest in mental health and is qualified as a Level 5 Counsellor and Psychotherapist. In her spare time Elyse enjoys going for long walks (that end in a cosy pub) with her husband and their very energetic dog, Cedric.

Mark Lupton - Engagement Officer

Mark has been with Healthwatch Salford since 2017, having previously worked for local Healthwatch in another area from 2012.  With a special interest in primary and secondary care, Mark has been the lead on key projects such as: Access to GP Appointments, Remote Appointments, Dentistry in Salford, Silent Voices and our Community Forum and is keen to continue developing our connections with the Salford Community – giving more opportunities for people to have their voices heard.

Outside of the Healthwatch family, he is a keen equine enthusiast with a passion for ponies as well as having a quirky interest in carving wooden marionettes.  Mark also serves as Vice Chair on the Independent Monitoring Board of a local prison.

Ali Macleod - Engagement Officer

Ali has been working part-time with Healthwatch Salford since November 2020, during which time she has been working on the following projects: setting the priorities for Healthwatch Salford for the coming year; working with Salford City Council on a large project looking at Equipment Services; working with the Northern Care Alliance on a large project looking at Home care services. She has also worked on a national project with Healthwatch England on Adult Social Care focussing on putting a face to unmet need.

Outside of work, Ali is mum to 3 children, one of whom is in a wheelchair. She is passionate about using lived experience to improve services, and volunteers with the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing at the University of Bolton, working with student nurses to enable them to understand the patient experience.

In her free time, Ali likes to cycle and to sing, and is a member of 2 local choirs.

Lara Mills - Mental Health Engagement Officer

Lara joined Healthwatch Salford in November 2023 as a Mental Health Engagement Officer. Her role involves supporting and facilitating engagement and involvement of local people with lived experience in shaping the ongoing Salford Living Well programme including its partners.

Lara is a Salford resident, originally from the Lake District and studied Public Health at University in Liverpool. Outside of work, she enjoys keeping fit (running, going to the gym, pilates) and exploring fun things to do around Salford and Manchester, such as restaurants and music events.

Amy Lasen - Volunteer & Involvement Officer

Amy is our Volunteer & Involvement Officer, and will be leading our volunteer team and exploring ways that you can get involved with Healthwatch Salford.

Amy lives in Eccles after moving from the North East. She previously studied at Teesside University in MSc in Forensic Science. Currently, Amy is training to be a counsellor after noticing a need for affordable mental health in the community. Amy has been involved in volunteering all her life such as working with Shout as a crisis text advisor, chairing a feminist society and numerous befriending roles. She brings all this knowledge and experience to expanding our current volunteering programme. She carries out her placement at OutThere working with people who have family members in prison. Outside of work, Amy is a dab hand at crafts and loves to make things, crochet and find new things in the local area.
