The Vape Debate

The prevalence of vaping amongst children and young people nationally has increased exponentially over the last few years, resulting in the new Tobacco and Vapes Bill which is to be introduced on June 1st 2025. Our latest project, The Vape Debate aims to determine the extent of vaping amongst children and young people in Salford, via anonymous surveys, for children, parents and teachers.

We must understand the current picture in Salford so that services can take appropriate steps to ensure that our children and young people are as healthy as they can be. The surveys have been produced in conjunction with colleagues in Public Health, Salford City Council, the Youth Service and Early Break.

The feedback from the surveys will result in a report that will be published in the summer and will be available to the public. It will contain recommendations about actions that services such as Public Health and the Youth Service need to take in order to improve the issue of vaping in Salford.

All of our projects are followed up a year later to verify that the recommendations have been followed through so that we can assess the impact of our work.

Parents of Salford school children, complete our 5-minute survey:

Secondary School (All years)

Primary School (Years 5 and 6)

Your child’s school should have been sent information about the project and a survey for pupils to complete in lesson time. If your child hasn’t been given the opportunity to give their feedback, and you wish them to do so, please contact the school.

The survey closes on the 30th of March.
