Two Greater Manchester charities set to merge

Age UK Salford and Age UK Trafford are pleased to announce their forthcoming merger, which takes effect from 31st March 2025. The union marks the beginning of a new phase in enhancing and expanding the services available to older people across the two boroughs and is a significant development in the provision of support for older people in the region.

By combining their expertise and resources, the unified entity will operate under the name Age UK Salford and Trafford and will be led by Dave Haynes, current Chief Executive Officer of Age UK Salford.

Both organisations have existed for 50 years as independent charities and bring a rich history of community engagement and robust advocacy for the welfare of older people. Central to the merger is a commitment to not only maintain but to amplify the quality of care and support services the existing local charities now offer.

Dave Haynes, Chief Executive Officer, Age UK Salford, said: “Our two organisations have a shared commitment to serving our communities. By joining forces, we will be able to support even more people to get the very best from later life.”
