Health Access and Homelessness – take part
We want to gather the lived experiences of 100-150 homeless people to more fully understand some of their access issues and barriers to health and social care services. As part of this project they also want to talk to service providers and statutory bodies involved with homelessness.
We are using existing community-based services to support the gathering of views and experiences of homeless people through structured conversations based around a survey and have partnered with 6 organisations to do this work.
The initial feasibility study is to gather information and personal experiences of homelessness and health access. Survey responses will be anonymous, but we will record monitoring information, as we are particularly interested in understanding the differences between different population groups and protected characteristics.
The survey will be running for 6 weeks from 12th February to 23rd of March and the 6 organisations we are working with are:
- Manchester City Mission – Narrowgate Night Shelter
- Salford Loaves and Fishes
- Salford Women’s Aid
- Joint Veteran Alliance
- Salford Foyer (Places for People)
- Citizens Advice Salford
Those interested in completing the survey should contact one of the 6 partner organisations directly or us, for more information.
The results of the survey will be analysed and written into a report in April and an infographic created to illustrate survey findings.
Copies of the report and infographic will be left with the 6 partner organisation for homeless participants.
The report will also be published on our website and copies sent to relevant commissioners and Salford City Council, to inform wider homelessness work and the refreshed 5-year council homelessness strategy due to be published in April 2018.
Study themes and findings will inform whether we undertakes a larger multiagency project planned for later in the year.
Through our ‘Health Access and Homelessness’ project we are providing opportunities for those seldom heard in Salford to voice experiences they don’t often have a chance to speak up about
